It's been a very busy last few weeks. Candice spent two weeks here in Austin with me, and then we flew back to Tampa for my roommate's wedding this past weekend. I hadn't been to a wedding in probably 12 years, so this was the first time I actually paid attention to the ceremony and got to really enjoy the reception and rehearsal dinners. It was a very very quick trip, but lots of fun. And because I feel I've been horribly neglectful in the amount of pictures I've taken this summer as compared to previous summers, here's the midway-through-the-summer Austin photo update.

This weekend I saw two really cool things at the Alamo Drafthouse. Friday night was a Footloose Sinus show which is essentially a live action MST3K. Then Saturday night I saw A Scanner Darkly, which was quite good, and beforehand they had the composer of the film's score do a live concert for us. It's like movie theaters for movie lovers.

The Ultimate Guide to Pacman. This is why I love the internet.

Another sign that the end times are coming, Little Man is the #2 movie this weekend. I mean I love bad movies and all, but come on America.

My grandma on my Dad's side passed away yesterday, so I'm flying up to Amarillo for the funeral tomorrow. I'll be seeing relatives I haven't seen in years/decades so it'll be nice to catch up. Unfortunately I have a presentation due Tuesday at work that I was counting on spending the next two days on, so I'll get to play college and cram to finish it on Monday. It will be my first time in Amarillo (long time readers may remember this is where I grew up) in 4 years, so it should be interesting to see how it changed.

I've only got 3 more weeks left in Austin before I head back for my last semester of college ever. I'm now think I'm having regrets about not doing the PhD so I could stay in college forever, but on the other hand money is really really nice stuff to have. In an ironic twist of fate, the first semester I have a car is the first semester since I moved off campus that I'll be within walking distance of class. I also have a TA spot reserved for me, so one more semester of teaching Juniors and Seniors about interrupts and assembly code. And of course free tuition.

Last weekend I went to Six Flags in San Antonio with the interns and almost got rained out, but managed to ride a fair share of rollercoasters. My favourite would probably have to be Poltergeist though SFFT Superman gets the award for smoothest roller coaster I've ever been on. I also won a UF Basketball when I played the "Shoot a basketball through the hoop" midway games. It was actually the very first midway game I've ever played, and that was only because I was in shock that they had a UF basketball in San Antonio. My first 2 shots missed horribly, but the 3rd one swished in.

I've also been going to a few shows, including seeing Houston Calls and Quietdrive in San Antonio, and then MXPX and Reel Big Fish the next night in Austin. RBF was an awesome show, lots of energy and long set list. One of my friends who takes pictures of these concerts as a part time job, put some of up of the SA show. I also have tickets to see Bloc Party in early August. Good times.

And finally some new photos
